The State of Alaska Department of Commerce, Community, and Economic Development provides funds from the Alaska Department of Fish and Game for the Southeast Alaska Chinook Salmon Hatchery Enhancement Grant (CSHE) program.
The purpose of this program is to help mitigate economic impacts to the fisheries interests from the reduction in the Southeast Alaska Chinook salmon harvest.
Total funding available for the 2013 grant program is estimated to be $500,000.
Grants during the 2013 application cycle will be awarded for proposals which support the following activities:
- Support for coho and / or chinook hatcheries operations at existing facilities within districts 1-8 established under 5 AAC 33.200(a-h).
- Development or addition of remote release sites of hatchery fish in waters inside the winter boundary line established under 5 AAC 29.020(b).
Eligible applicants include a hatchery that holds an active permit issued under
AS 16.10.400 and 5AAC 40. Applications must be submitted to the department using the Southeast Alaska Chinook Salmon Hatchery Enhancement application form provided below, and received by 4:30 p.m. April 16, 2013 to receive consideration.
