Alaska Board of Pharmacy License Renewals
Updated August 17, 2012

On August 17th letters were mailed out to all persons and facilities whose Alaska Board of Pharmacy license lapsed on June 30, 2012

1. Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians: Do not sign or date your renewal form until you have completed your continuing education requirements. This requirement is clear in the text above the signature line on pharmacist and technician renewal forms.  CEs completed after the date on your renewal form will be disregarded in an audit.  The envelopes and postmark dates used for division correspondence become part of your permanent record.

Should I submit proof of my Continuing Education with my renewal form? No.  Please do not submit proof of completion of CEs with your renewal form.

The part of the renewal forms titled Statement of Compliance For Continuing Education Requirements has a section for LATE RENEWAL APPLICANTS.  This applies to those who are renewing now through June 2014. Be sure to complete this section.  Renewal forms can be downloaded by clicking this link:

How should I route my renewal form to the division? Postal mail only. This is the most reliable means of receiving your renewal form at this time and posting your renewal fees.

Which mailing address should I use?
Board of Pharmacy
PO Box 110806
Juneau AK  99811-0806

What if I’m using Fed Ex, UPS, DHL or another expedited carrier that requires a street address?
Board of Pharmacy
State Office Building
333 Willoughby Ave., 9th Floor
Juneau AK  99801

Can I use email/scanning? After your complete renewal form is received in the postal mail, email can be the primary source of communication to/from the division regarding your licensing matters. Renewal forms have an informed consent clause for this purpose. The written consent must be received and recorded in the database before utilizing email for licensing matters.

Can I fax my renewal form?  No, because it is not a reliable method to receive your items.   Please do not ask for an exception.

What happens after you receive my renewal form?  The processing time for correct and completed renewal forms is three to four weeks after receipt. If your renewal is incomplete or otherwise incorrect, you will receive a status letter via email (if consent is given for same on your renewal) or in the postal mail.  All renewed licenses will be routed to you in the postal mail.

What does the Professional License Search feature on the website have to do with license renewals?    As soon as your license is renewed in the database, the expiration date for your license in the Professional License Search will be updated to 06/30/2014.  Your original license must be posted in your workplace, but the Professional License Search can confirm your license has been renewed and is en route.

What can I do to make sure my license is renewed promptly?

  • Read the instructions before you begin completing the renewal   form.
  • Proof read your renewal form to make sure no area is left blank.
  • Do not fax your renewal forms.
