Take a Home Inventory

In addition to regularly reviewing your home insurance policy, it's important to document your personal property.

Having visual proof of your belongings will verify the items were actually on your premises and ensure you don’t forget anything in the event of a claim.

An inventory can also help determine how much personal property insurance you need.

Inventory Tips

  • Make a list of your personal possessions.
  • Take photos and video of your house and contents.
  • Keep receipts or other proof of the cost of high-value items.
  • Keep inventory and records in a safe place away from your home.
  • Include the name and contact information of your insurance company and insurance agent.
  • Email documents to yourself for safekeeping.
