Municipal Documents Delivery System

Every city and borough in Alaska is required under state law (AS 29.26.040) to annually hold an election for municipal officials. The Division of Community and Regional Affairs collects the election results and certification documents from each municipal government.

Certification documents are the signed, official documents stating that election results have been certified by the agent(s) representing the local government entity. Unofficial election results are the documented, uncertified results of an election.

In response to increasing demand for copies of these documents, DCRA has created a Municipal Documents Delivery System.

Municipal documents are organized and searchable by State Fiscal Year, which runs annually from July 1 through June 30. This means that, for example, an election held in October 2020 occurred during State Fiscal Year 2021.

DCRA does not adjust these documents in any manner and is not responsible for the accuracy or quality of municipal election documents. The Municipal Documents Delivery System is updated throughout the year as records are received.
