The regulations update drilling, wells, inspections, and definitions to provide more clarity in carrying out the purposes of Alaska Statutes 31.05. The Lieutenant Governor signed and filed the regulation changes on June 28, 2022, with an effective date of July 28, 2022. The regulations will appear in Register 243, October 2022, of the Alaska Administrative Code. The proposed change is in response to the AOGCC conducting a statewide review of wells and finding that the regulation needed to be amended to add the phrase “below the base of permafrost”. The Lieutenant Governor signed and filed the regulation changes on June 18, 2018, with an effective date of July 18, 2018. The regulations will appear in Register 227, October 2018, of the Alaska Administrative Code. December 2014 The Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission (AOGCC) has revised its regulations dealing with hydraulic fracturing. Specifically, the AOGCC has amended 20 AAC 25.005, 20 AAC 25.280, 20 AAC 25.990, and added a new section 20 AAC 25.283 in order to define hydraulic fracturing, require notice to nearby owners and operators prior to commencement of hydraulic fracturing, require water sampling and analysis, require disclosure of hydraulic fracturing fluids and additives, increase wellbore integrity and assure containment of hydraulic fracturing fluids. The Lieutenant Governor signed and filed the regulation changes on December 8, 2014, with an effective date of January 7, 2015.
