Board of Professional Counselors Board Members The Board of Professional Counselors consists of five members appointed by the Governor: Four licensed professional counselors, of which at least one shall be employed in the private sector and at least one should be employed in the public sector; and one public member who has never been a licensed professional counselor or employed in a commercial or professional field related to counseling; or lives in a household with a person who is or has been a licensed professional counselor or employed in a commercial or professional field related to professional counseling. Members are appointed for staggered terms of four years. Members serve until they are replaced or resign.
