Alaska Climate Change Impact Mitigation Program Hazard Impact Assessments The ACCIMP provides funding to Alaskan communities that meet one or more of the following criteria related to flooding, erosion, melting permafrost or other climate change-related phenomena: Life/safety risk during storm/flood events Loss of critical infrastructure Public health threats Loss of 10% of residential dwellings The Hazard Impact Assessment (HIA) is the first step in the ACCIMP process. The HIA identifies and defines the climate change-related hazards in the community, establishes current and predicted impacts, and provides recommendations to the community on alternatives to mitigate the impact. The community may then pursue these recommendations through an ACCIMP Community Planning Grant.
